If you ask Christine and Steve how they met, they both will give you a slightly different version of that faithful night, but there is one thing is common: They both fell for each other….hard.
Christine’s side of the Story:
Steve and I met at the home of my closest friend, Eureka. She and her husband Bill (the Norments) were hosting a happy hour social at their home, the Friday before Memorial’s Day in 2010. I had been a regular attendee at the Norment’s home for their social events. Steve had been a frequently invited guest for years, however he never attended. On this magical evening Steve showed up.
Steve arrived some time around 9:30 p.m. Eureka announced / introduced Steve to the party as he was coming down the steps into their basement. I was sitting at the bar and turned around just in time to see his feet hit the floor. He said something to greet everyone as he started walking across the room. The only thing I saw was his legs moving. My first thought was “Whew…look at those juicy, sexy legs in those jeans”. Anyone that knows me well know that I love nice legs. So my eyes trailed up his legs until I reached his eyes and they were twinkling. A little unnerved inside, I turned back around. Bill’s sister was sitting next to me and there were no available seats at the bar. As Steve crossed the room heading for the bar, Bill’s sister got up and left her seat. So the only available seat at the bar was now next to me. Steve sat down, we started a conversation and talked to each other practically the whole night. What a magical night!
Steve’s Side of the Story:
Chris and I met at the Norments bar. As I entered I noticed Chris and her beautiful self and it just so happened a seat opened up right next to her. I walked up ordered a drink and hung out and injected myself in her conversation. I agreed with everything she said and said everything I thought she might want to hear, trying to whooze her without her knowing. Toward the end of the night I waited until I thought she was leaving and timed it so I would leave at the same time. When I thought she was leaving I positioned myself to be ready and walked out with her and ended up walking her to her car and gave her my number and told her to let me know she got home safe. That was my ticket in. After meeting her that night I was so excited and after just that short period of talking knew she was the one for me. The rest is history. What a great catch for me!
Steve and Chris became “official” shortly after that Friday. While rocking and singing along at the concert of Babyface they knew they had such a special connection. They sat on the bench overlooking the James River and watched the waves splash about. Steve started asking Chris a series of questions about the future, their future…together.
About 1.5 years later in the company of their dog, Pheobe, as their witness, Steve proposed.
Ok, ok, I have to open the wedding with this image, one of my old time favorites!!!
The day started with this pretty dress…
and these gorgeous shoes…..
and a whole lot of pretty everything
and then I saw the warm smile of Christine, and I knew the day will be amazing…
Chris and Steve opted to see each other before the ceremony, and we set the “first look” on the deck of the Celebrations at the bay, it was the perfect spot.
This was my first time photographing at the Celebrations at the Bay, so I was super excited to photograph there. I tell you what, people of the internet, it was not disappointing. Everything was elegant and beautiful, the sun that brushed over the water and made it sparkled made the backdrop of this wedding magical.
Documenting moments like these of a daugther with her father before he walks her down the aisle….makes me love my job so much
And they got hitched…
Sunsets by the water= the perfect backdrop for images.
I have to give a shout out to the Celebrations at the bay, the reception room looked flawless!!
As I mentioned on this blog before, I always do night shots with my clients, and of course, when I saw all these candles, I had to incorporate them in some of the shots.
Christine & Steve, thanks so much for giving me the opportunity to document your special day. I hope you will have an amazing time on your honeymoon. I can’t wait to come over for some good conversation and hot cocoa again.
